August 10 - August 30, 2026
Today marks the start of an incredible adventure. After months of planning, I finally hit the road.
The first day was about settling into the journey and getting excited for what's ahead. I woke up early, packed the last few items, and checked the route one more time. The weather was perfect, and as I drove away, I felt a mix of excitement and nervousness.
By evening, I had covered 250 kilometers and found a cozy place to stay. I met other travelers at the restaurant who gave me some great tips about the road ahead.
We reached the mountains earlier than expected. The views were breathtaking, but the elevation was tougher than anticipated.
The mountain roads are no joke. Hairpin turns, steep inclines, and the air getting thinner as we climbed. At one point, I had to pull over because my car was overheating. But the views? Absolutely worth every bit of effort.
From the peak, I could see for miles in every direction. Valleys, forests, and smaller mountains stretching to the horizon. I spent an hour just sitting there, taking it all in. This is why I'm doing this.
Met a local who told me about a hidden trail that offers even better views. Adding it to tomorrow's plan!
Found this amazing little town by the lake that wasn't on any of our maps. Met some local people who shared incredible stories.
I took a wrong turn and ended up in this small town that doesn't even appear on Google Maps. The locals call it "Paradise" and I completely understand why. The lake is crystal clear, the mountains surround it perfectly, and everything moves at a slower pace here.
I stayed longer than planned. Rented a kayak, paddled out on the lake at sunset, and had the most peaceful evening of my life. The town has a small market where I bought fresh local produce for dinner.
An elderly woman at a café told me stories about the town's history and how it's stayed hidden from tourists. She invited me to come back anytime. I definitely will.
After days of driving, we finally reached the ocean. The salt air, the sound of waves, and the sunset were worth everything.
The smell of the ocean hit me before I even saw it. I could smell the salt air, the seaweed, the freshness. Driving over the hill and seeing the vast blue ocean stretch to the horizon was emotional. After all those days in the desert, this was magical.
I found a coastal town with a beautiful promenade. Walked along the beach for hours, watched surfers catching waves, ate fresh seafood at a beachfront restaurant. The energy here is completely different from where I've been.
Took a boat to a small island. The beaches are pristine, the people are friendly, and time seems to move differently here.
Decided to take a detour and catch a ferry to a small island. The boat ride itself was an adventure—dolphins swimming alongside the ferry, seabirds everywhere, and the island getting bigger as we approached.
The island is small enough that you can walk across it in an hour. White sand beaches, turquoise water, and a handful of locals who live off fishing and tourism. Everyone knows everyone, and they welcomed me warmly.
Spent my days swimming, reading on the beach, and eating fresh catch every evening. Nights on the island are quiet except for the sound of waves. One local took me out on his fishing boat at dawn. This place feels like the world's best-kept secret.
Returned to the mainland and headed into the forests. The smell of trees, the sounds of wildlife, a complete disconnect.
Left the island with mixed feelings—grateful for the experience but also ready for new scenery. Headed inland and found myself in vast, ancient forests. The air is crisp and smells of pine and earth.
Hiked for miles through the forest, saw wildlife I've only ever read about. The forest is alive with sounds—birds, rustling leaves, the occasional animal moving through the undergrowth. It's a completely different kind of peace than the island had.
Found a secluded cabin and spent the night there. The forest sounds at night are both peaceful and slightly eerie. Slept deeply and woke to birds singing. This is nature at its purest.
The journey comes to an end today, but the memories and experiences will last forever. Already planning the next one!
It's hard to believe it's been three weeks. Twenty-one days that felt like both a lifetime and a moment. In that time, I've seen mountains, deserts, oceans, islands, and forests. I've met incredible people and had experiences I'll never forget.
What I learned: The world is vast and beautiful. People are kind. Sometimes wrong turns lead to the best places. Solitude is healing. Nature has a way of putting everything in perspective.
To anyone reading this: Life is short. Travel. Explore. Take wrong turns. Talk to strangers. The world is waiting for you. See you on the next adventure!
